We have begun thinking about fundraising, and some fundraising has already started!  We are excited to move forward with a new year of preparing for our visit to Honduras! We are anxious, however, knowing that the rising cost of fuel and travel will be a potential problem for our efforts.  It is a daunting task to undertake, but we are committed to raising as much as we can to hopefully help the people we know and love in Honduras.

Please take some time to check the calendar page, where you will find updated information regarding upcoming events and fundraisers.  If you're interested, please feel free to contact us, or come to a meeting to hear it all for yourself!

We look forward to speaking to people in the next couple of months, getting to know the new members, and helping to get our mission out to the community!  Look for us!

We have been home a few days now, and we wanted to share with all of you how wonderful our experience in Juticalpa with our friends actually was.  We were blessed to be able to spend all our time in the Nazareth School, where we slept, ate and shared.  The people of the Olancho Aid Foundation, including Padre Richard Donahue and all his current staff and volunteers took such good care of us that we did not want to leave.  So, a big thank you again goes out to Padre, Carlos, Annie, Henry, Rob, Kristi, Colleen, Jess, Stephanie, Angel and Matthew and all the rest!  Your dedication to this organization is inspiring!  And to Benita!!! We loved the frijoles!

We were fortunate enough to be a part of Mary Roy's 15th trip to Juticalpa . We celebrated with a fiesta with the students at the Nazareth School.  It was wonderful.  We were also able to leave our largest donation in our organization's history (for the 2nd year in a row!).

We had the chance to share many meals with friends, be surrounded by people we care about, and had the ability to do many new things (like shower outside!).  But it was because of all of our supporters that we were able to share in the 15th anniversary of this organization's mission.  Thank you all for your continued support.  Please visit our picture page for new pictures!  And stay tuned for an updated website!  And if you or anyone you know might be interested in our 2009 trip, Contact Us today!!

Words cannot express the excitement that is running through so many us at this moment. Thanks to a successful Omelet Breakfast, where we raised over $1,000 (Thanks so much, Matthew Anderson!) and to stellar fundraising in the past month, we are well over our fundraising goal and shooting for the moon!

Our trip departs in the early morning hours of February 21st.  We are sure in for an adventure!  We greatly look forward to sharing our wonderful experience with all of you upon our return on March 3rd.  Thanks to all in our community and elsewhere who have given us well wishes, thoughts and prayers.  We will see you all in March.  Stay tuned for more photos!

Thanks to all of you who helped to make Carlos' visit so wonderful! He enjoyed himself a lot and never took off his coat, hat and scarf!

Our next event is our Omelet Breakfast!  Please encourage everyone you know to join us!  Last year, this was one of our most successful events!  Can't wait to see you all there!  Please bring a dozen eggs, a container of OJ and make a dozen muffins!  We will try to have a meeting during the breakfast.  So come with any questions you might have.  Also, if you owe ANY paperwork, you MUST bring it with you.  This is the last call for all paperwork.

Our Shaw's receipt collection has gotten off to a great start!  Please remember to bring any receipts you have collected to the breakfast!  Also, if you have collected any money (which we hope you have!) you should bring it then, too.  Please be sure you know your family's contact email address for us to put on or finalized email list to send out updates on how we're doing!

We will all be attending mass as a team on February 10th at 11:00.  After mass, we will have a meeting to finalize all of our plans for the trip.  All must attend.  Please plan to be there at 11:00.

A huge thank you goes to Dr. Storace for his generous support of our mission!  His practice donated about 800 tubes of toothpaste this week to take with us.  Thank you so much!

Another huge thank you goes out to Anil Barretto for his hard work in getting us some help with our baggage for our trip this year!  With his help, we will be able to better provide for the children of Juticalpa! Thanks, Mr. Barretto!

Don't forget to get your family and friends to the breakfast next Sunday, January 20th from 7-2 pm.  See you all there!

Thank you to all of you who were able to come to the Bishop Guertin Craft Fair last weekend. We did very well, and made almost 500 dollars!  If you have not heard yet, we are collecting Shaw's Supermarket Receipts.  We can receive 1% of qualifying purchases from each receipt we collect!  So, contact your family members, friends and co-workers for their receipts as well!  Also, as the Holiday season begins, now is the time to remind those close to you exactly how much they can support our team and our mission!  Many team members have created Holiday letters that the send out with their Christmas Cards, so if you need ideas, don't hesitate to ask!  We hope to see all of you at Mary Queen of Peace on December 23rd after the masses to welcome Carlos Najera, the Executive Director of the Olancho Aid Foundation.  He will be here to spend Christmas in the US and to meet the many people who have helped to make our team such a success!  We also hope we will see you again before the Holidays, however if that is not possible, Happy Holidays and a Happy and Healthy New Year!  ¡Feliz Naviad y una Próspero Año Nuevo!

Thanks to all who attended the meeting on the 11th!  It was great that so many of us were able to come! Many things were discussed, and we hope that now we can all buckle down and start raising the last bit of money left to be raised!  We talked about an upcoming omelet breakfast with Patti and David's son, Matthew, as well as getting donations for a bowl-a-thon, NHS Honor Society (thanks, Chelsea!) as well as supply issues and concerns.

If you have items at home you hope to pack, please either make a list or email a little note to Mary so she can start planning what we need to take and how to pack it! We will need to go through the suitcases soon to better understand what is there!

Also, if you have not already done so, please contact your parishes so that we can encourage their support.

Also, we still need passport and birth certificate copies from some of you.  We need your passport in order to buy the tickets, because the airline wants the tickets to say exactly what is on your passport! So if you have not started the process, PLEASE do so.  Thanks!  You can mail all copies to Mary or Steph.  Thanks!

Thank you to those of you who were able to help prepare for or attend the craft fair at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish this past weekend!  We sold some of our items, but have many things left over.  If you are available, we still need helpers for the BG craft fair on Dec. 1st in Nashua.  Please let us know you can be there!

For those of you who didn't know, Jeff Abkowitz from the Nashua Telegraph wrote a lovely article about our team in today's paper.  Go see the article at http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071105/NEWS01/311050034.  A HUGE thanks to Jeff and the staff at the Telegraph for helping us get our name out there!

The next meeting is November 11th at noon at MQP.  See you all there!

October 14, 2007

Congratulations to the entire team, because our spaghetti supper last night was a huge success!  Hard work in preparing and serving the meal, setting up jewelry, note cards, and baking and selling pies has really paid off!  Our efforts earned us almost $1000.00!  Good work, Team!

In other news, the remainder of our pies were sold after this Sunday's masses.  Mary also was able to sell more of the note cards.  There are only a few left!  If you are interested in buying a package, or know someone who is interested, you need to act quickly!

Lastly, we have been fortunate enough to possibly have a connection with American Airlines to give us a great discount on our tickets for this year's trip.  Because of this, we have decided to finalize the team at this time.  If you have not turned in your paperwork (more specifically, your contract!) and your deposit, you must do so as soon as possible. We are finalizing the team list by this coming Sunday, October 21, 2007.  If we do not have your contract and paperwork by then, unfortunately you will not be on the list.  So act quickly!

Our next meeting is Sunday, November 11th at Noon at MQP.  See you then!

Thank you to those of you who were able to join us at the picnic today!  Even through the rain, we made our presence known!  Personally, I spoke to many people (mostly thanks to my new shirt!) about our trip and generated a lot of interest from our parishioners as well as many others!

We have received note cards from a member of the Rockland Team, Keith, with the self-portraits of some of the students from Santa Clara on them!  They are beautiful, and we will be selling them for $10 for a pack.  All proceeds will go to hopefully fund an art program at Santa Clara!

Our next meeting is very important.  Please be sure to be there (With your paperwork!!)

Also, I spoke with our friends last week and they assured me that our beloved Juti is safe and sound!  Felix didn't do much damage to Honduras, and they received very little rain in Olancho.  Thank you all for your good thoughts, wishes and prayers for our friends and the country that we love!

June 23, 2007

It was wonderful to see those of you who were able to make our team picture party last weekend at the Croteau's house.  Those of you who weren't able to come, please know you were missed.  We have your picture CD's, and we will send them out shortly.  If you intend on joining us on next year's trip, please contact us so we can put your name on the list.  Anyone interested in finding out more information about the trip is encouraged to attend our upcoming meeting on June 3rd at noon at MQP in Salem.  If you need directions, check on the Calendar page, or Contact Us now!  See you then!

Also a huge thank you goes out to Espresso Pizza in Nashua for your continued support of the HMT-NH!  Your support is greatly appreciated!

A huge THANK YOU goes out to those generous people who donated last year to make the 2007 Honduran Mission Team the most profitable team yet!  Because of those of you who were able to donate money, time or materials, we were able to leave the largest sum of money in our organization's history to benefit the children of the Nazareth School, as well as many other wonderful programs Padre Richard Donahue and his staff provide.  Thank you again!  We look forward to your continued support!
